St. Peter Claver
Jesus said to his disciples, “Why do you notice the splinter in your brother's eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me remove that splinter in your eye,' when you do not even notice the wooden beam in your own eye? You hypocrite! Remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter in your brother's eye” (Luke 6: 41-42).
It is very easy to complain about others’ faults while forgetting about our own. One of our greatest responsibilities is to be the most virtuous people we can be. People who strive to help others, serve others and bring joy to others. That is a true champion.
Lord, give me the strength to be like the Saints who were true champions.
