February 3 - St. Blaise and St. Ansgar

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over unclean spirits. He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick--no food, no sack, no money in their belts (Mark 6: 7-8).

Jesus wants us to be detached from material things. More things do not make us happier. When we are focused on serving God and others, our Lord takes care of everything else.

Lord, you were detached from all material things, help me to follow your example.
